The Enemy called Excuse

Excuse is a common word found everywhere. It's just like a piece
of paper that when not properly disposed, it liters every where including our lives and liters are dirt.

Excuse begins first in your mind as a thought then you take actions towards those thoughts.

Excuses are flimsy, yet very interesting and easy to come up with but they produce nothing. It's funny how we easily come up with something to say especially when a task is to be done. You know how a child quickly come up with lies after being caught red handed, that's the way excuses are. The painful part of coming up with excuses is the acceptance by the society that is why a lot of us settle for status quo.

We all live with this enemy called excuse. This enemy is the reason you've not started the business, its the reason you've not written that book. It's the reason your still where you are. It's the reason you are not praying but you are saying to yourself, I would be praying in my mind. It's the reason you are procrastinating, tomorrow, next week, next year, when I'm 50
Excuses are so sweet like candy, but it would give tooth ache at the long run. No child rejects candy, each time you come up with excuses, especially flimsy ones, you are a child, in fact a toddler. Excuses would always show up but we need to act in-spite of not because of.

You know the amazing thing, each time you go in-spite of, you are killing your mind not to settle for status quo. Remember, it always comes with a thought, so the next time you have the excuse thought, just say. Thank you but I would do it in-spite this idea / thought.

Fighting this enemy is a big battle that needs to be won everyday. You can't just say to yourself.. I would do this and that tomorrow.. You have to take action immediately and also avoid giving reasons for your actions. Avoid so many "because"

Life would only reward a diligent man, this is a daily fight, keep doing what your mind suggest to you not to do. I'm not a pro on this, but at least I'm making progress every day. Let's commit together every day to kill this enemy in our lives.

Few Tips to help you fight this enemy called Excuse.

  1. Have a goal... Very clear, simple goals and break them down into monthly, weekly and daily.
  2. Create a to do list everyday in line with your goals. Be specific with your list, include everything such as bathing, eating, praying and ensure your cross out after its done (Google keep notes come in handy to do this)
  3. When you are tired, take some rest.
  4. Applaude yourself and celebrate your little wins
  5. Ask the Holy Spirit for help.
  6. Be deliberate about killing this enemy.
